After delivery of used refrigerators to the storage yard, they are sorted by type and refrigerant used. In the next step, they are subjected to the gas recovery processes. The first stage consists in sucking off the gases from the cooling circuits. The analyzer allows you to check what factor for foaming PUR foam was used in a given refrigerator. The gases are neutralized. Then the compressor is removed. Pre-prepared refrigerators are transported to the shredding chamber by means of a system of roller and belt conveyors. With the use of one hundred specialized knives, refrigerators undergo a grinding process, which takes place in an atmosphere of nitrogen gases. The concentration of process gases is monitored on an ongoing basis. After grinding, the raw materials are poured onto the conveyor belt and the segregation process begins. First, the insulating foam is removed and metals are collected using magnetic separators. Another separate material is plastics. On another part of the line, metals are sorted by type with the help of the eddy current separation: copper, zinc and aluminum are sent to separate bins. The different types of material are similarly sorted. After that, finishing the processes, all sorted products go to sale or for further processing.
